The Group was approaching it’s centenary year which starts on the Group’s birthday, the 17th of May 2015. It was decided at a Group Exec Committee meeting that we needed a number of special events to mark our centenary, it was decided that we would focus on the following:
An International Camp – to Acorn Adventures, Ardres in France. One day during this trip would be a visit to the grave of one of our founding leaders – Fred Greenacre – then a hop over the border into Belgium to the Menin Gate to see the Daily Last Post Ceremony and to pay our respects.
A Group Open Day – held at the HQ on our actual birthday, open to all past and present members, their families and anyone who wanted to come along.
An Evening Event (Party) – to be held at the Village Hotel on the last night of our Birthday weekend.
A Centenary Raffle – to be held during our Evening Event.
A Group Camp – to mark the end of our Centenary Year, to be held at Wall (nr Hexham).
