Group Centenary Open Weekend

On Sunday the 17th of May 2015 the Group will be 100 years old.

To celebrate our centenary year memorabilia from the past 100 years of Scouting in the Group will be on display over the whole weekend.

As this will be our 100th birthday we are hoping to get a huge number of ex-scouts and their families joining us, and we already know of people travelling from up and down the country as well as all around the world to take part but we want more.

We are hoping that ex-members or their family members will not only come and see the things we have found so far but also add to the information by bringing stories, photos or anything else they may have and can share.

During the display there will be facilities at our headquarters to copy people’s photos there and then so no one will have to part with their precious belongings.

In the past people have brought photos and paintings of people and the areas our various headquarters have been in, we’d love to see those people again so we can copy the images.

Other activities may yet happen on the day but we really do want everyone with a connection with the Group to be involved.

The Plan So Far

Saturday 16th May

On Saturday the 16th of May the display at our headquarters will be open to the public between 12 midday and 5pm.

This extra day is for people who are unable to join us on Sunday 17th or those who would like a little longer to see the many items we have on display.

Sunday 17th May

This is the actual day we are 100 years old and we are really keen to see as many people as possible join us.

The display will be open from 10am until 4pm.

At 3pm former Ritson's Scout the Reverend Canon Jim Robertson will be leading a short dedication service for the Group's flags.

The current members of the Group will also be getting centenary badges presented.

Sunday 17th May - Evening Event

At 6pm the Group will host a celebration event at the Village Hotel in the Silverlink where we hope to see as many of our current and former members as well as specially invited guests.

There will be a buffet and some items of memorabilia will be on display for people to look at and will be a real chance for people to meet up and relax with friends old and new.

As we have had to book a venue and pay for the buffet we are having to charge £10 per person for this event which we are really hoping will not stop people from joining us.

To help us cater for this event please let us know you are planning on joining us by clicking here to email us.

During the course of the evening the centenary raffle will be drawn. Tickets will be on sale over the weekend and are currently available from any member of the Group.

The current prize list can be seen by clicking here.

If you are unable to be there but would like to send us a message to put up on the day, or if you have a memory to share please get in touch with Michael using the link on the right.
